Machining techniques
The cutouts in a case interior are made using CNC milling, water jet cutting, or punching, depending on the design. CNC milling is the most commonly used method because it allows for very precise cutouts that match virtually any product, from individual parts to complete sets. Cutouts can also be made in different depths, so that products are supported at multiple points and better protected. If desired, the interior is finished with a bottom plate or carrier, so that the whole thing lies firmly and neatly in the case.
Foam types and preparation of the interior
Various types of foam are available for case interiors, depending on the desired firmness, cushioning, and appearance. The foam is first brought to the correct thickness and shape so that the interior fits exactly into the case. If an interior in multiple colors is desired, foam layers can be laminated together with a heating process. This ensures a sleek finish and prevents adhesive residues that can contaminate products.
Post-processing for a sleek and clean result
After the cutouts have been made, the interior is post-processed: loose foam particles are removed and the interior is finished cleanly. If desired, the surface can be treated so that it looks neater and is less sensitive to water absorption. For specific applications, certain foam types can also be made suitable for use in controlled environments, with dust-free packaging when necessary.
Complete set: case including interior
A case interior can be supplied separately, but also complete in a case. You can supply your own cases, or choose from various case types that are often combined with interiors, such as plastic cases, aluminum cases, and waterproof cases.
