Flight case or aluminum case: which is right for your application?
In this post, we provide further explanation regarding the differences between a flight case and an aluminum case. Which solution best suits your application depends on several factors. First and foremost, the size and weight of the contents to be packaged are important. Additionally, the desired appearance plays a significant role. Will the packaging be used solely as a means of transport, or is an elegant presentation also important? Our product range is extensive, allowing us to offer a suitable solution for every requirement.
What are the differences between a flight case and an aluminum case?
The main difference between a flight case and an aluminum case is the material from which the transport packaging is manufactured. A flight case is generally used for packaging large and/or heavy products. The aluminum profiles, the sheet material, and the hardware are stronger and larger than those of an aluminum case.
Because stronger materials are used, a flight case can also be built in significantly larger dimensions than an aluminum case. If desired, a flight case can be fitted with swivel casters, making it easy to move. Technically, aluminum cases can also be fitted with swivel casters, but in practice, this almost never happens.

What is a flight case?
A flight case is a robust transport crate developed for transporting and packaging heavy and large products. Flight cases are widely used in the event and entertainment industry, as well as within the offshore and high-tech sectors. Fragile products are transported worldwide in flight cases due to the exceptionally high level of protection.
Typically, flight cases are fully custom-made from plastic or wooden panels with a wear-resistant top layer and aluminum profiles. Steel corner pieces, sturdy butterfly latches, and hinges make up the hardware. Thanks to this construction, the interior fits the shape of the product perfectly, the case can be used intensively, and it offers excellent protection against shocks, impacts, and heavy loads.
With the help of foam interiors, dividers, and special mountings, the contents remain securely in place, even during intensive transport.

When should you choose a flight case?
- Maximum protection is required
- Equipment is transported intensively
- The product is large and/or very heavy
- An elegant appearance is not necessarily required
What is an aluminum case?
An aluminum case is a case constructed from aluminum wall profiles and panels made of aluminum, plastic, or composite material. This creates a sturdy yet relatively lightweight packaging.
Unlike flight cases, aluminum cases are available in many different types and sizes. For example, we produce aluminum cases that are comparable in robustness to flight cases but are constructed from more refined materials. Our Strong-line aluminum cases are a good example of this. These cases are robust and suitable for intensive use. However, the maximum dimensions and the load capacity of the contents are more limited than with a flight case.

A significantly lighter variant is our Fine-line. These aluminum cases are manufactured from aluminum side wall profiles and aluminum panels. They are primarily used for representative presentations and combine a professional appearance with good protection of the contents.

When should you choose an aluminum case?
- The contents to be packaged are not too large and/or heavy
- Presentation plays a major role
- The weight of the packaging is a factor
